Financial Controller – EU – Barcelona based role

Our business has been expanding rapidly over the last 5 years and we have a highly talented global team of over 150 people around the world.  In order to meet the changing needs of our business, we have created a new role of Financial Controller for Europe.  This role will be based in Barcelona.  This position will be a fixed term contract of 6 months – as we are embarking upon further acquisitions and need to determine the end structure as the company evolves.  There is possibility that this could become a permanent role in the Company as we progress forward.

This is an exciting and challenging new role for our organization, tasked with the responsibility of leading the Finance function within Europe across multiple entities within our group, reporting to the Global Financial Controller.

The successful candidate will be CA Qualified with experience in a similar senior role in finance and accounting, will be a strong leader with excellent communication skills and will have a real can-do attitude with a focus on delivering timely, accurate financial records to the business. You will be a master at mutli-tasking, have strong problem solving and mediation skills and a perfect blend of resilience and positivity to engage and drive a team to achieve strong results.

High Level Responsibilities of the role:

  • Liaison with Finance Leaders in the development of strategic plans
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts for region
  • Prepare year end entity statutory accounts
  • Oversee divisional reporting process
  • Leading and developing Finance team in Europe
  • Budgeting and forecasting
  • Payroll admin for UK and Ireland
  • Cashflow management and revenue recognition
  • Preparation/review of VAT returns, PAYE
  • Accruals and prepayment schedules
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Liaise with European business managers where necessary


  • 10 years experience in finance and accounting
  • CA Qualified
  • UK/Irish experience desirable
  • Leadership experience
  • Proven skills in business, financial, personnel and admin management
